While we are still waiting for Microsoft’s next console, the codenamed Scorpio (or Project Scorpio). We have some information about how games will run.
Speaking with USA Today, Microsoft Studios’ publishing general manager Shannon Loftis says that games published by Microsoft Studios will render natively in 4K. However is not guaranteed for 3rd party games at this moment.
Microsoft also talked about upcoming game releases and how VR plays with the Scorpio. Loftis added that “any games we’re making that we’re launching in the Scorpio time frame, we’re making sure they can natively render at 4K.”
Many people including YouTubers raises concern of how Scorpio will handle 4K. At this time PC games that renders 4K are kept at 30fps instead of 60fps. Most likely that 3rd party games will be upscaled to 4K instead.
We will have to find out when Microsoft formally releases the console next year.
