It looks like PlayStation won’t be publishing Hideo Kojima’s upcoming game called Physint. Sony hasn’t given any reason why has stopped publishing Physint. In 2024, Kojima posted a video on Twitter, calling it a completely new “action espionage game” for a new generation.
But there is some good news. According to Kojima, the team has spent the last few months shopping the project around to keep it alive, and they’ve found a partner: Xbox.
“XBOX understands and shares our bold creative vision, and this expands our relationship with XBOX beyond OD. As we move forward with the development of PHYSINT, we remain committed to redefining the action-espionage genre for players around the world.” Kojima tweeted on Twitter.
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma also tweeted that the game will coming to Xbox. With OD already set to be published by Xbox, this marks the 2nd time that a Kojima Productions game will come to Xbox. Xbox also exploring film and television with Hideo Kojima.
He also posted on X with details on how the deal came to be, saying that Sony was going to cancel Physint.
This comes after Sony decided to remove the disc drive on the upcoming PlayStation console facing fans to face the PlayStation store if they wanted to buy games in the future for PlayStation.
Physint is a working title, and we still don’t know much about it. “Of course, it is an interactive game,” Kojima said when Physint was announced, “but it is also a movie at the same time.”
